- Senior hire strengthens Broadstone’s capabilities in the strategically important insurance sector during a period of ongoing investment
- Matthew joins from Milliman and brings significant practitioner experience of leadership positions at both consulting and insurance firms
Broadstone, a leading, independent UK financial services consultancy delivering expert advice to employers, insurers, lenders and pension scheme trustees, today announces the appointment of Matthew Ford to its Executive team as head of its Insurance Advisory & Remediation division.
Matthew joins Broadstone from Milliman, where he was a Principal in their London life practice, with a particular focus on pension risk transfer and capital management propositions.
Prior to Milliman, Matthew gained extensive leadership experience working at both insurance firms and consultancies within the insurance market. He was a Finance Director in the Insurance and Wealth division at Lloyd’s Banking Group, led the London life practice at Willis Towers Watson and was the Actuarial Director at Prudential Assurance Company.
A senior industry figure, Matthew brings deep practitioner expertise delivering client-centric solutions across the insurance market and is a key hire to support Broadstone’s ambitious growth plans during a period of ongoing investment.
Matthew’s appointment enables Broadstone to expand its offerings, especially across the pension risk transfer market, building on the acquisition of ExactVAL in 2025, and broaden its footprint in insurance technology as well as in the Lloyd’s and London markets.
His appointment follows the strategic growth investment made in Broadstone by Lovell Minnick Partners (announced on 7 January 2025) to accelerate the expansion of its capabilities – particularly in its Insurance Advisory & Remediation unit.
Matthew Ford, Head of Insurance Advisory & Remediation at Broadstone, commented: “Broadstone already has a strong reputation in the insurance industry but there is a significant opportunity to spearhead further growth as the business continues to invest in its differentiated proposition. I am delighted to be joining at this time and will use my experience working at both consultancies and insurance firms, to bring a strong market focus and deliver bespoke, client-relevant solutions as we expand our insurance sector business.”
Tony Gusmao, CEO of Broadstone, added: “Matthew’s appointment to lead our growing Insurance Advisory & Remediation division reflects our continued investment in the strategically important insurance market. He has a great pedigree with significant practitioner experience in insurance which will be critical as we continue to scale Broadstone’s footprint in this market.”
